It’s February already – and with February comes Valentine’s Day! I’ve been wondering how everyone will celebrate this year since the traditional “dinner and movie” may be out for most of us (thanks COVID). So, I’ve come up with a few ways you can show those you love the most how much you love them this (socially distanced) year. Here’s my favorites:
1. Light A Fire
Inside or outside! This particular activity is one that we’ve used around here for years. With three little kids and little time (or energy) to go out for a date, we’ve enjoyed outdoor fires all year round. They’re perfect for alone time away from other distractions after the kids are fast asleep inside. Grab a dry cushion from inside, a blanket to snuggle under, and a glass of wine and enjoy your backyard this Valentine’s Day.
2. Eat In
Ok, this one sounds boring at first blush, I know. But, you can make it fun, I promise. For example: each of you can secretly plan a dish to prepare that you know the other will love – it’s like a romantic potluck. OR, choose one of you to be blindfolded and the other will talk through the steps of preparing the food (warning: don’t do this while cooking with a hot stovetop!). Or maybe make some chocolate fondu and dip everything you eat. Have fun and be creative!
3. Take A Hike
Or snowshoe – depending on the weather outside (we live in Massachusetts, it could be doing anything by then!). What better way to spend time together than to go into the woods for some good ol’ exercise and uninterrupted conversation?
4. Create Something
Bob Ross. Need I say more?!
Ok, I will say more: collect the supplies needed from your local craft store now. Then, after you put the kids down to bed on V-day, take a painting class from Bob Ross via YouTube! Don’t like Bob Ross – no problem, there are tons of learning options you can find.
5. Learn Something
Find a virtual class you’ll both enjoy! What have you been interested in learning? How to pair wine with food, mixed drinks, knitting, photography . . . your imagination is your limitation – you can find nearly anything online!
Don’t Forget The Kids!
I know it’s your husband who you normally celebrate a holiday like Valentine’s Day with. However, don’t you agree that your whole family is really worth celebrating?! Schedule a photo session for this spring to remember this unique time in history – and all the extra time you’ve been able to spend together. Plus, bonus from me: when you schedule your session this February, you’ll also receive a complimentary 11×14 mounted print OR a $300 product credit.
