I love all newborns: I mean, seriously: give me your babies! But there is just something special about baby girls <3 <3 <3 Maybe it’s the adorable outfits, soft colors, and super adorable headbands and tiebacks. Or the variety you can have between using headbands and bonnets. Or maybe it’s the flowery and lacy backdrops . . . I don’t know. But one thing I do know: I just love newborn girl sessions.
My second model session after the newborn workshop in May was another girl <3 So, I did what any normal (ok: crazy) person would do: I created my own onesie pattern and made her an outfit for the session 🙂 Of course I chose a color that I thought would flow nicely with the session theme (white and grey), but maybe it was a silly material to choose for my first attempt at sewing* something like this – it had two layers of material! Ha! Somehow I managed to actually create an usable final outfit that was super-adorable and fit like a glove!
For most model sessions I simply photograph the baby alone, but I was very excited to have this big sister here for just a few minutes to start the session! Can’t you tell how excited she is to have a baby??
*did you know that all the outfits I make myself are up-cycled from shirts or other pieces of clothing? Sometimes I use shirts that were my own that I no longer wear; sometimes I find them at yard sales or thrift stores. But when I saw this gray lace shirt I just knew that I had to have it! As you can see, I also decided to make a pair of overalls from it too 🙂
