Giving birth is super difficult on your body – especially when you end up having a cesarean. When this happens, you’re not only going through major surgery but you don’t get much time to recover in the way you should because you also then have a newborn to care for! The recovery is long and hard – you’re asked to not lift more than 10 pounds or climb stairs, among other things. When you also have a toddler at home it takes your body quite a while to heal. I know this first hand – I’ve had c-sections with each of my children!
Even with a “normal” delivery where everything goes as smoothly and easily as it possibly can, your body still needs time to recover and it may take years to get back to “normal” (has anyone ever described birth as “smooth” or “easy”?!)!
I have a confession: I can sometimes be grumpy about having to transport everything I need to someone else’s home for a newborn session – I have so much stuff that it looks like I might be trying to move into the house with you! However, (obviously) giving birth is so much more difficult than this minor inconvenience for me. That’s why I love to offer this service – you need the time and space to let your body heal and the more rest you get, the faster that happens. I don’t want you to have to choose between taking care of yourself and having the photos you want of your sweet baby.
My most recent newborn mom was thrilled with this option:
“When I reached out to Rhiannon for my daughter’s newborn photos, I was thrilled she offered in-home sessions!! She captured amazing photos of myself during both my maternity sessions and an in-studio newborn session of my son. It was a no brainer to have her take Christa’s photos too. But with the possibility of a second c-section, a 22 month old at home and the uncertainty of New England weather- I instantly booked when I learned she would come to my home for our shoot! Our session was amazing- she brought everything she needed, amazing patience and care with my very awake and wiggly daughter and captured some shots of both of my children together. I highly recommend Rhiannon for all your important life capturing moments and especially when it can be done so conveniently in your own home!”
If you’re expecting but are uncertain if it’s worth it to hire a newborn photographer given all the hullabaloo surrounding birth and having a new baby, know that you can stay in the comfort of your own home AND have amazing photos you’re thrilled to display for all to see!
