I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard from women – whether they’re friends or clients – that they don’t photograph well. Or they hate how they look in every picture. Or that they erase (!) all pictures on the camera of themselves that their kids or husbands dare to take. This makes me sad in so many ways, but mostly that they’re erasing/avoiding memories that their loved ones could have had after they’re gone. This reality hit me hard recently in an article I read by Kaz Weida about her mother:
Sixty years of a life full of marriages and children, laughter and loss. She was the most important woman in the world to me, but the photographic evidence of her existence didn’t even exceed the maximum attachment file size of a single email.
I’m overweight and in the worst shape of my life right now (any hints on how to fit exercise in my schedule with 3 littles under 4 and running a business??) and certainly am not comfortable in front a camera. However, I still make sure I’m in images as much as I can be – especially with my children. They don’t care how I *think* I look – they call me beautiful and love me no matter what. And, years from now they can still look back on these images that I didn’t want to be in and remember the love and fun we’ve had.
It doesn’t matter her shape, size, age, or view of herself: I think all women are beautiful and should feel beautiful! So what better way to celebrate the moms in our lives than to help them feel loved, beautiful and to help them make sure they’re present in photographs! I’m offering stylized mother-daughter portrait sessions in celebration of Mother’s Day this year. These sessions include professional hair and makeup for mom and one daughter (others can be added on for an additional fee), wardrobe consultations (via skype, phone, text, etc), and an experience that will boost confidence and have them feeling amazing and connected as they leave the studio for only $550. For more information or to purchase a session for the mother in your life contact me today!
The gorgeous girls below came to my studio today for one of these sessions and here’s what mom had to say about their time:
I loved the experience! I felt very pampered. Initially, I was apprehensive, not knowing what to expect. But after rushing around all day, it felt nice to sit down, have my makeup and hair done, and wear pretty clothes. ❤️. I loved how excited the girls were to wear a dress and get their hair done. You also are so easy to work with and I felt more comfortable because you were so encouraging. Such a fun night with my girls!
