Pregnancy – it’s a love/hate feeling for most women. LOVE because, well: you’re growing a human being inside your body, which is to say the least: amazing. And hate because your body is not your own. You feel different (and often feel awful!) and look different. I remember a good friend telling me during one of her pregnancies that the most difficult part for her was that she was not used to seeing any bumps on her body when she looked down (she is, after all, a marathon runner) . . . for me that part of pregnancy was nice – I was seeing just one bump compared to the multiple bumps I normally see LOL. For myself, the hardest part was the uncomfortableness, particularly at the end of the pregnancy where I couldn’t even get comfortable enough to sit, stand, sleep . . . I was always uncomfortable (although not in pain, so that was good!).
Whatever that part of pregnancy is for you that you like least – rest assured, when you celebrate your pregnancy with a photo session, it will only be a faint memory when looking back on your pregnancy! What you will remember is how beautiful and wonderful you looked and what an amazing thing pregnancy is and was for you! That’s why I include a complimentary mini maternity session with every newborn session booking – I want to not only celebrate that beautiful baby after they arrive, but to celebrate both of you in the process. You also have the option to purchase an upgrade to a contemporary portrait session to really celebrate your beautiful self. These include complimentary hair and makeup (because, really: what expectant mama doesn’t want to feel pampered?!), multiple outfit changes, and even your spouse and/or other children for part of the session if you want to.
I had the privilege to photograph my friend Kensie recently in a contemporary portrait session during her third pregnancy. We sometimes joke that I’m her own personal photographer since I’ve photographed her wedding, first pregnancy, second newborn, and now her third pregnancy and soon her third newborn as well (and can I say that I CAN NOT WAIT to meet this baby girl?!). This woman is not only stunningly gorgeous, but she has the heart to match. I hope that I was able to capture at least a little of that in these images.
