If you’ve read any of my other recent posts, you know that I attended a workshop with TG Photography in May (it was amazing!). The workshop was for newborn photographers and was held on a Saturday in CT (thanks for hosting From Labor to Love) from noon(ish) until seven(ish). Other than getting a migraine at the end of the time and then having to drive home an hour and a half, it was seriously an amazing day! The day following the workshop I was discussing it with my husband and declaring that I should try to get a model baby in the studio ASAP to help me really solidify my newly acquired skills. Then, I remembered I had a friend from church that had a baby girl earlier that week. So, being the person I am (read: sometimes awkward and overbearing), I texted her to ask if they might be interested in being my guinea pigs Monday morning since that’s when I had availability that week.
Let me pause here to remind you: Saturday was the workshop; Sunday I decide I want to do a model call; Monday they came to the studio for the session. Do you understand how amazing that is? 6 days after she had this beautiful newborn girl they decided LAST MINUTE to drop everything else and come to the studio to help me out. Wow.
I just had mom back in the studio the other day to view her images for the first time and we talked at length about many things. One of these things we covered however, was how excited she was that they decided to do this, even at the last minute. They had just a few days of pure bliss enjoying the newness of this girlie before two things happened: dad had to go back to work; and baby had to spend a few days in the hospital fighting an infection. So: life got a bit crazier after they saw me this first time!
I’m so glad I was able to capture this sweet newborn girl in all her newness as well – she’s already a month old and she’s so much bigger and looks so different! As a first time parent you’ll hear it all the time from other people: “they grow so fast!” But with my first I didn’t realize they meant so fast right away! Cherish these first few weeks, so much changes so quickly – just ask this family!
