We welcomed our baby boy a couple of months ago – via repeat c-section. We had hoped for a VBAC, but apparently God had other plans 🙂 Hopefully there will be a longer gap between him and our next (Lord willing) child so that we can try a natural delivery that time! However, with only 13 months between these oldest two, our care providers preferred we opt for the c-section. So, we compromised, scheduled the section for 39 weeks and 5 days and decided that if I went into labor before the appointed date, that we would attempt a VBAC. No such luck. Oh well, we still ended up with a beautiful, healthy little man!
I did have a bit of a meltdown in the hospital as we were waiting for the c-section to start. I couldn’t fathom loving another little one as much as I already loved our first, and felt like we would be stealing (love) from her! Everyone says that with each child there’s just more love and they’re not sure where it comes from. And they say that you love them all differently. You’d think that I already understood this since I still loved David the same (and even more) after we had number 1 . . . Well, “they” were all right! I love the little man more with each day – just as I keep loving his big sister more each day too!
Here are some photos of his birth day and our subsequent stay in the hospital (photo credit to my husband of Doulos Photography). I just love the way our daughter instantly became so much older in our eyes when we saw her immediate loving reaction to her little brother!
